As primary teachers, we have the opportunity to share read aloud stories with our students, inspiring them to appreciate the power of love and friendship. My students also love watching their favorite stories read online! Here are some ideas for Valentine's Day read alouds that I share with my students every year.
Valentine's Day Read Aloud #1
"Love, Splat" by Rob Scotton
Splat the Cat is always getting into trouble, and in this read aloud, he has another humorous adventure! He tries to impress his secret crush, Kitten, in this adorable Valentine's Day tale.
Valentine's Day Read Aloud #2
"Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch" by Eileen Spinelli
This story is a favorite because it really tugs at the heart strings! The transformative power of friendship and kindness is explored as Mr. Hatch receives a mysterious package and learns that he is cherished by those around him. I always have such good discussions with my students after watching this story.
Valentine's Day Read Aloud #3
"Froggy's First Kiss" by Jonathan London
Why is Froggy so silly all the time?! Froggy is on his usual hilarious misadventures as he nervously prepares for his first Valentine's Day dance.
These online read alouds are so good! Please note that because these are not my own videos, I can't control their availability going forward, but they were all available at the time of writing this post. Enjoy!
