Have you shown Earth Day read aloud videos to your students? My students love watching stories read to them online. If we are lucky, we can find a video of the author reading it! Either way read aloud stories can inspire curiosity, recycling, saving energy, and a sense of responsibility towards the planet. Here are some of my students' favorite online read aloud stories about Earth Day.
Earth Day Read Aloud #1
The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
This is the first book I think of when I think of Earth Day stories. It's a timeless classic that introduces children to the concept of environmentalism and the importance of preserving nature. The format and characters are both cute and intriguing!
Earth Day Read Aloud #2
The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry:
I'm always happy to pull out this beautiful book each year. My students often choose it during silent reading time as well. This beautifully illustrated book tells the story of a man who falls asleep while contemplating cutting down a tree and is visited by animals who depend on it for survival.
Earth Day Read Aloud #3
Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel
Who knew there was an Earth Day surperhero? Michael Recycle is a superhero who teaches children about the importance of recycling and taking care of the environment.
By incorporating these online Earth Day read aloud videos into your primary classroom, you can ignite a passion for environmental stewardship and empower young learners to make a positive difference in the world.
