For primary teachers like us, back to school time is filled with anticipation and hope. We look forward to seeing our old students, and creating a whole new little community or family with new students. My favorite way to greet my new friends is by sharing a story or two. Through sharing a story, we can laugh and learn together, and get to know each other along the way! Here are some of my favorite stories for back to school time.
BACK TO SCHOOL BOOK #1
"The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn: This timeless classic follows Chester Raccoon as he learns to cope with separation anxiety on his first day of school. With its tender story and beautiful illustrations, it's sure to comfort and reassure young students facing similar feelings.

BACK TO SCHOOL BOOK #2
"First Day Jitters" by Julie Danneberg: Everyone gets nervous on the first day of school, even teachers! This humorous tale follows Sarah Jane Hartwell as she tries to overcome her jitters about starting a new school year. A delightful read-aloud that will have students giggling from start to finish.

BACK TO SCHOOL BOOK #3
"Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes" by Eric Litwin: Join Pete the Cat as he explores his new school in his signature groovy style. With its catchy refrain and positive message about embracing new experiences, this book is sure to be a hit with young readers.

Have you tried these books with your students? They are always a hit with my class!
